About Lisa

Was I cute, or what? As the 'baby' in my family, I grew up in Milwaukee Wisconsin with four brothers and three sisters. Our house was full of laughter, love and lots and lots of books.

Some of my favorite books were The Seven Chinese Brothers, The Man Without A Head and The Most Loved Doll. Here's me with my 'most loved doll."

I also treasured the first 'big' book I read once picture books became too easy for me. It was on President Harry S. Truman--his life as a boy and how he grew up to become President. I rode around my neighborhood with that book in the basket of my orange Huffy bicycle and showed it to my neighbors and friends. I was so proud to read!

That's me! The baby of eight kids. I fondly recall being read to by my siblings and parents. I think I made my mom read The Little Red Hen close to a thousand times. Boy, was she ever glad when I learned how to read!

I gobbled up The Little House on The Prairie, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys books. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume changed my life when I read it as a ten year old. To this day, Charlotte’s Web is one of my favorites. Some Pig!

I wrote songs, music and stories as a child and loved to play 'pretend'. Pretending is one thing I've never grown out of but now, I pretend through the characters I create and the stories I write.

I write in my home office in Muskego Wisconsin. I have two wonderful teenagers, a very supportive husband, a goofy dog and a sweet bird. As a family, we've spent hours and hours reading at naptime, bedtime and in between time. We've enjoyed all my childhood favorites and discovered new favorites together. From Lily's Purple Plastic Purse, the Magic Tree House series to the Newbery Award and Printz winners. Reading continues to be an important part of our daily lives. Our house is filled with laughter, love and lots and lots of books.
