  I discuss of the importance of imagination and daydreams. I’ll show examples of both fiction and nonfiction manuscripts in various stages of the publishing process including revision, errors, corrections and final copies.

Using my current fiction or nonfiction titles as examples, I share the process of writing. From idea to outline, gathering and organizing information, writing, revisions, and final product. I may use a work-in-progress as an example as well (depending upon where I am in the process at the time.) If you have a preference and would like me to focus only on fiction or nonfiction, I'm happy to accommodate.

BRINGING YOUR WRITING TO THE NEXT LEVEL
(grades 8 thru 12)

60 minute presentation w/ a 15 minute Q&A session

Intended for writers who have a grasp of writing fiction, this presentation highlights use of a great first sentence, hooking your reader, "show, don't tell," seamless transitions, dialogue and making your reader care.  

*An extended version of this presentation is also available and includes an additional hour
used for a hands-on writing workshop*

TRUTH IN FICTION: WHERE REAL LIFE MEETS MAKE BELIEVE
(grades 8 thru 12)

60 minute presentation w/ a 15 minute Q&A session

    Using my published and soon-to-be-published fiction, I talk about how life experiences - from a bad hair day to a tragic event - makes writing fiction real. I also use exerpts from other novels that showcase excellent examples of fiction that use "emotional truth."

*This can also be extended to add another hour for a hands-on workshop,
with students sharing ideas and producing fiction from their own experiences.*

Descriptions for additional or alternate presentations available - just ask! :-)

Single 1 hour session - $350.00 (available for local visits within 60 minutes of travel.

Half day (2 sessions back to back) - $600.00 plus travel expenses over $50.

Full day (3-4 sessions) - $800.00 plus travel expenses over $50.

Out of state visits (3-4 sessions) - $900.00 plus travel expenses. Require an overnight stay. Ground transportation assistance to and from the school/event is greatly appreciated but not required.

*Districts are welcome to split full day sessions with two schools and provide ground transportation.* 

20 minute Skype Classroom visit booktalk and 10 minutes Q&A - $100.00 (This is especially fun for classes or book groups that have read one of my books in advance.)

About the Author

Lisa Albert grew up in Milwaukee Wisconsin where she spent many summer afternoons reading at Finney Library or on the steps of her front porch.

Lisa writes fiction and nonfiction for teens and tweens. She enjoys giving writing workshops and doing author and Skype visits. 

Lisa has presented at the American Library Association National Conference, the Wisconsin Book Festival, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators Wisconsin Retreat. Lisa also works as a school library assistant where she presents booktalks to grades K-8.

When she’s not busy writing, Lisa spends time with her husband and two children. She can often be found reading on her back porch or at local garage sales hunting for treasures.
